ATTENTION NSSA PENSIONERS: NO CERTIFICATE, NO CASH! Authority sets Life Certificate renewal deadline

THE National Social Security Authority (NSSA) has dropped a firm warning to all pensioners: renew your Life Certificate or kiss your payouts goodbye!

In a statement, NSSA said the 2025 Life Certificate renewal exercise will run from 4 August to 31 October and failure to comply will result in benefits being suspended.

A NSSA Life Certificate is a document issued by the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) in Zimbabwe to pensioners, verifying that they are still alive and entitled to continue receiving pension payments. It’s an annual exercise to prevent fraudulent payments to deceased individuals or ghost pensioners.

Pensioners must physically visit NSSA regional, sub or satellite offices across the country to renew their certificates.
“Pensioners should come to NSSA in person with the original and a copy of their National Identity cards or a valid passport. Driver’s Licence will not be accepted as proof of identity,” NSSA warned.

For those too ill or disabled to travel, NSSA said, “Bedridden and grossly disabled pensioners will be visited by NSSA in their respective homes.”

To widen access, NSSA will also pitch up at POSB, NBS and ZimPost outlets during pension pay days, and several business centres and growth points will be covered. Dates to be advised.

Pensioners abroad can download the Life Certificate from www.nssa.org.zw and once completed and certified, email it to [email protected].
“Failure to renew a Life Certificate by 31 October 2025 will result in suspension of benefit pay-out,” the authority warned.

So pensioners, if you want your money, better prove you’re still breathing.
