representative Mr Ken Sharpe told New Ziana to date US$10 million had been ploughed into the project.
“Things are progressing well, so far expenditure for materials used is about US$10 million and this year we will inject US$12 million towards construction of the road,” he said.
“We hope that by March we will have diverted traffic onto the new road so that we can resurface the old road.”
Mr Sharpe said the equipment for resurfacing the old road was now at the border and would be arriving in the country soon.
The plan of the road involves constructing an overpass (flyover) that crosses the railway station to link with Enterprise Road.
Under the BOT deal, Harare City Council is supposed to transfer to Augur Investments prime land, which includes Warren Hill Golf Course and several other municipal properties as payment for the construction of the expressway.
At least two houses in Braeside face demolition to make way for the road. – New Ziana.
