A PASTOR and author, Sydney Matekwe, has unveiled a book which speaks about marriages.
Pastor Sydney was raised in a family whose parents had separated.
“l grew up under the custody of relatives and guardians which had its own fair share of challenges.
“I became very bitter towards the marriage institution but when l matured I had to change my bitterness by studying solutions instead of licking my wounds.
“This became my inspiration to be a relationship-coach hence l emphasise pre-and-post marital counseling plus educative counseling,” he said.
Pastor Sydney added:
“I would want to do more by helping those who have had challenges and those who are still scared to join the bandwagon.
“Being a pastor and marriage officer have provided interventions in my endeavours and with more support l can make a meaningful contribution to society at large.
“Men and women have different needs and demands.
“In order for a marriage to work, it doesn’t just require love but also a level of understanding.
“When you completely understand and realise your role in a relationship, you become more content.
“In such a stable atmosphere, you tend to grow closer.”
Most of the time, he said, people love their partners but they are not able to understand them.
“Love is just not enough to work through the relationship in today’s scenario.
“Understanding marriage is essential for a successful and fulfilling relationship.”
