Award winning SA gospel ariste for Zim

year will run from September 3–9 in Malbereign while the concert will be held at the Harare International Conference Centre.
Reverend Sasa said the church saw it necessary to bring a high-profile gospel musician who will perform at this momentum occasion and uplight
“The word of God tells us that music is a powerful tool in provoking the presence of God. We want people to know that salvation is for everyone regardless of age, nationality or race.
“We want to bring people together in an atmosphere of worship so that they are encouraged in the faith and receive unlimited favours,” said Sasa who is the brains and vision behind Open Heavens.
Pastor Mahlangu will share the stage with Zimbabwe’s great gospel couple Baba and Amai Charamba, ever green and energetic group Zim Praise and the dynamic Shiloh Word Miracle praise and worship group which is currently riding on the wave with a number of hit songs.
Many other local musicians are also expected to perform on the day.
Pastor Mahlangu has collaborated with other popular musicians such as Keke Phoofolo who was the guest artiste at the Open Heavens last year and Zanele.
His album “Mwamba Mwamba” won the best Traditional Faith Music Album category at the South African music award this year. In 2009 he won the Best Gospel song at the SABC gospel crown awards in Durban.
He was born and raised in Tembisa Township in the Eastrand. He was brought up by his grandmother and mother and he never knew his father.
He attended school in the same township until he went to high school.
Pastor Mhlangu has been in the music industry for 20 years. He was raised in a Christian home where going to church was the order of the day.
It was a blessing for him because that is where he discovered his God given talent. One day when he was in church, he asked one of his friends in the church who played the accordion to teach him.
Pastor Mahlangu was so passionate about it that he learned to play in one day and since then he never looked back.
He started singing at conferences, churches, schools, youth camps and many other places at an early age.
At the early age of 18, young Mahlangu was already travelling overseas, preaching the gospel through music.
He is married to Nomkhosi and they are blessed with three girls — Thando, Amani and Asante.
Pastor Mahlangu believes that “it is always better to be ready and have no opportunity than to have an opportunity and not be prepared”.
