AZAM FC, which is home to the trio of Bruce Kangwa, Prince Dube and Never Tigere, finished off the season on a high note with a 4-1 thumping of Biashara United yesterday.
Tigere was on target as he took his tally to three goals and nine assists.
The emphatic win means Azam have finished third on the Tanzanian top-flight’s league standings.
“I’m very happy with the way we have finished the season, it was a great result which we really needed.
“Being also on the scoresheet is amazing, I’m happy with how we performed considering we had lost to the same team in the reverse fixture,” said Tigere.
Kangwa expressed his sympathy for Dube, who has spent the larger part of the season in the stands.
Last season, Dube netted 14 times and finished just a goal behind the eventual winner of the Golden Boot.
He also missed many assignments due to injuries.
A lot was expected from the 24-year-old this season but it turned out to be the worst campaign of his career.
A series of career-threatening injuries have been stalking him.
“I believe he will bounce back to the top of his game once he gets rid of these injuries.
“He is and will remain a top player, it’s just unfortunate that injuries are pulling him back to the ground,” said Kangwa.
