THE Bulawayo Amateur Football Association (Bafa)will hold its 2015 annual general meeting at Tshaka Youth Centre in Makokoba next week. Bafa chairperson Chris Mtungwazi said the meeting would be held ahead of the start of the 2015 season. “We’re starting our 2015 season preparations with our annual general meeting at our Bafa offices at Tshaka Youth Centre on January 31,” he said.

Mtungwazi said they will use the AGM to address issues that the association and teams raised last season.

“We will be addressing all the issues that were raised by the teams last season, so it’s important that every team including those who want to join the 2015 Bafa league race to attend so that we can address all pending issues for the coming season,” he said.

Mtungwazi said they were still on the hunt for a sponsor to partner them for the 2015 season.

“We’re still looking for a sponsor for this year’s league, we’ve sent some requests to various companies and we’re hoping for a favourable response soon,” he said.

The 2014 league started and ended without a sponsor which proved difficult for some of the teams as they found the going tough without supplementary funds from the league.

Mtungwazi said the Bulawayo City Council had given them the greenlight to use the Barbourfields external fields for this season.

“We approached the Bulawayo City Council on the use of the Barbourfields outside grounds and they have agreed the fields will be available for use for our 2015 season,” he said.

Mtungwazi said with the financial challenges they faced last year, they had resolved to increase the club’s affiliation fees this year.

“As a means to relieve ourselves of the financial pressure that we had last year, we will be increasing the clubs’ affiliations fees.

“We understand that it’s not easy for clubs to raise funds but the teams have to understand that in order for a league to run there’s need for a lot of money,” said Mtungwazi.

He said he was looking forward to an exciting season this year with more teams likely to be joining the race.

“We’re looking forward to an exciting competitive league this year with more teams showing interest in joining Bafa this year,” he said.
