Bambo, Gunners split?

conspicuous by his absence yesterday with sources in the Gunners’ camp saying the coach’s relationship with the club’s leadership has collapsed.
The two parties are reported to be deadlocked on a number of issues related to the coach’s working conditions.
The charismatic president of the Soccer Coaches Union of Zimbabwe however decided to play down his absence.
Chunga said he was still part of the Gunners’ family but could not attend yesterday’s training because of illness.
Chando Kupisa enjoyed a remarkable recovery under the guidance of the former Dynamos midfielder last year.
“I could not attend training because I am sick. But it will be better if you can talk to the owners of the team,” said Chunga.
Club owner Cuthbert Chitima said they did not hear from the coach yesterday but confirmed they were still trying to iron out issues with the gaffer before getting down to business for the season.
“I cannot talk about his non-availability at this stage because we have just started our training.
“This week is not very crucial because it’s mainly dedicated to trials.
“But I can confirm that there are talks going on between Chunga and the club.
“The negotiations are still hanging and we agreed to meet again this week, hopefully on Wednesday (tomorrow).
“That is the position from the club at the moment and I think he is the best person to talk about his side of the story,” said Chitima.
Gunners opened their pre-season preparations with trials to scout for more talent to beef up their stocks after losing a number of players last season.
Chando Kupisa, who parted ways with almost half the team during the mid-season transfer window, suffered a further setback with the departure of some of their key players like captain Qadr Amini, Ali Sadiki and Michelle Katsvairo who joined FC Platinum, goalkeeper George Chigova and Ishmael Lawe.
This week’s trials are open for young players, mainly under the age of 23, as Gunners hope to continue with their policy of recruiting young players.
