A BANKET author, who doubles as a church pastor, successfully launched his three books at a glittering ceremony at Mumvuri Project here on Saturday.
Pastor Hazvinei Musokeri told H-Metro that he penned three books titled ‘Unanswered Prayers’, ‘Zones that Deter Success’ and ‘Kiki’s Bad Friends’ after months of research.
Musokeri said he grew up in Guruve and later packed his bags for Banket.
He said he was motivated to write books because of the things he saw happening in life.
“I wrote the books as a way of challenging the young generation to learn and also take an interest in reading books.
“Today’s youths are now taking drugs and engaging in wayward behaviour.
“I want the youths to develop a culture of reading so that they become focused, disciplined and aim for many things.”
Musokeri said while growing up in Banket, he always had a passion of writing his own books.
“My dream of writing has become a reality today.
“The launching of these books is a motivational message to the youths in Banket that the sky is the limit for them to do anything they want to do in life.”
Reverend Mugungwa of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Zimbabwe, said she was happy that Musokeri had launched his books in Banket, which has had its fair share of drug and alcohol abuse by the youths.
“Drug addiction has become a menace to society here in Banket.
“It’s an open secret the scourge has taken a toll on the lives of the young generation,” said Mugungwa.
Publisher of the books, Audrey Chirenje, said she met Musokeri on Facebook.
“I was encouraged by his books, the children’s book titled ‘Kiki’s Bad Friends’,” said Chirenje.
“I am just happy that people came to support him.”
