BaShupi plans Byo debut

BaShupi shot to fame last year after featuring on Desmond “Stunner” Chideme’s hit Godo.

The track was nominated at the 2011 edition of the National Arts Merit Awards in the Most Outstanding Song award.

However, they were beaten to the title by Pastor Charles Charamba’s song Nyika Zimbabwe.

In an interview yesterday, the Masvingo-born BaShupi said all was set for his debut show in Bulawayo and the dates and venues would be announced soon.

He said the city should brace itself for an exhilarating show.

“I will perform with a live band and people should come and witness true greatness. I am definitely coming to Bulawayo but the dates will be announced later next month,” said BaShupi.

He said his set would be one-and-a-half hours long and he would play songs such as Godo and Honey from his new single.

“I will play for one-and-a-half hours and I will play songs such as Godo, Tezvara, Kumusha, Mtambo to mention but a few. The live band has added a new dimension to performances for urban groovers,” said BaShupi.

He has recently said he would release a top class album later this year that will feature Zimbabwe’s seasoned artistes.

He said the album would feature artistes such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Sulumani Chimbetu and Chiwoniso.
His album is expected to have eight tracks and would be released in September.

BaShupi has released a single called Honey that is doing well on the country’s airwaves.
