He said the album, would feature artistes such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Suluman Chimbetu and Chiwoniso.
His album is expected to have eight tracks and would be released in September. BaShupi collaborated with Desmond “Stunner” Chideme on the hit Godo.
Chronicle Entertainment caught up with, BaShupi who was in the city to bury his brother, Fred Ndlovu who died in Harare on Saturday last week and was buried at West Park cemetery.
The talented artiste said he was working hard to come up with a good album.
“I want to produce a quality album that is why I am working with music giants. In September if everything goes well I will drop my first album,” said BaShupi, who composes and writes all his songs.
He said working with seasoned artistes was a plus as this guaranteed quality and professional work.
“I have shared the stage before with Chiwoniso at the Book Café and at the Independence Gala and it was a great experience and I will be able to work with her and I will benefit from her vast musical experience. Working with Tuku is obviously a great opportunity and an honour,” said BaShupi.
He said he was planning to work with South African singing sensation, Zahara and Nigerian twins, P Square.
“I want to work with Zahara on a song and also P Square. When I speak like this people think I am joking, they should watch this space,” said BaShupi.
He said working with the regional and continental stars provided a chance to further spread Zimbabwean music.
“My plan is to work with these artistes so that we show the region and the continent that in Zimbabwe there is much talent,” said BaShupi.
He said he had released a single called Honey, which had already received good airplay on national radio stations.
BaShupi said he was ready to perform in Bulawayo only if promoters made efforts to bring him and his band to the city.
“As long as Bulawayo promoters satisfy my contract I will definitely come,” said BaShupi.
He said his performance at last month’s Harare Festival of the Arts (HIFA) was breathtaking and reviews from fans were great.
“I performed at Hifa and those who were there commended me for the command I had on stage,” said BaShupi.
At the 2011 edition of the National Art Merit Awards, Stunner and BaShupi’s song Godo was nominated in the Most Outstanding Song award.
However they were beaten to the title by Pastor Charles Charamba’s song Nyika Zimbabwe.
