VENDORS in Mutare will have more regulated space to operate from with the addition of Bata Market in the Central Business District, whose renovations have been completed and allocation of stalls going ahead today.
Mutare City Council Town Clerk, Mr Blessing Chafesuka confirmed the latest development during a half year budget review engagement meeting with stakeholders at Mutare Hall.
“We experienced delays on the opening of Bata Market, but we are happy that all is well and the allocation of stalls to vendors is starting today,” he said.
Mutare Informal Traders Association (MITA) president, Mr Itai Kariparire, said: “We are grateful to the local authority for the provision of regulated areas of vending. Even though the market in question is small, we feel this is step in the right direction.”
