Baz hearings date set

THE Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (Baz) is set to conduct public hearings in Bulawayo and Victoria Falls next week for companies vying for commercial radio licences.Public hearings for Bulawayo will be conducted over two days, on Tuesday and Wednesday at Rainbow hotel. The hearing is expected to commence at 10AM.

Baz will also conduct a hearing in the resort town of Victoria Falls next week on Friday.

In Bulawayo, Fair Talk Communications (Pvt) Ltd trading as SKYZ Metro FM, Skies Radio (Pvt) Ltd trading as Skies FM and Carryslot (Pvt) Ltd trading as Skyz FM will present their proposals to the public.

Skyz Metro is linked to Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Dr Obert Mpofu while Skyz FM is owned by Alpha Media Holdings, publishers of Southern Eye, NewsDay, The Standard and Zimbabwe Independent.

In Victoria Falls, only one company- Fairtalk Communications trading as  Breeze FM, has been shortlisted for the hearing.
