were surprised to hear presenter IK announcing the fake Emeralds housemates.
That was when we realised that The Chase had been turned into a wild goose chase or rather an awful plot meant to discredit and not necessarily disturb the goings on in the house.
Yes, the rendezvous was an interesting part of the show and so was the best romantic gesture. But somehow Biggie got it all wrong for allowing the fake housemates to be in the same house as the Chasers.
The worst part was that viewers already knew that was no such house as the Emerald. When viewers know of the plot by Biggie then the show becomes a damp squib. Secondly, Endemol South Africa seem to forget that it is the viewers who are supposed to be entertained and not the housemates.
The other time that Biggie messed up big time was when evictees were recycled into the Barnyard and then allowed to see what was going on in the other house. Not only did this fuel hatred in the house but it created wayward behaviour as housemates were at each other’s throats.
The case in point was when South African housemate Lerato Sengadi was beaten by Ugandan Hannington Kuteesa. Hannington was subsequently disqualified from Big Brother Africa Season 5.
The whole Barnyard saga was a disaster from the outset.
There was too much wheeling and dealing among barnmates such that they ganged up against Zimbabwean housemate Munyaradzi Chidzonga by putting him up for eviction 
almost weekly.
That season exposed Endemol South Africa’s shortcomings. Munya had seven votes as runner-up making Uti Nwachwuku with eight votes the winner. Although Munya lost a consortium of business people from Zimbabwe gave him US$300 000 as they felt he deserved to win the prize money and the voting system was flawed. Following within these events, MultiChoice also arranged a consolation prize for him.
And now here we are, with fake Emeralds some of whom we doubt if they ever speak local languages from the countries they purport to represent.
This is where Endemol South Africa fouled up in Big Brother Africa —The Chase.
While bringing fake Emeralds into the house is meant to confuse the “real housemates” if we may call them that, it won’t be long before the secret is out.
One of the things that are likely to happen is that the Emeralds after a drinking binge as is always the case will forget their strategies and even falling in love by the way this is one of the themes in this season.
Another issue is that the Chasers will speak in their native languages and it is likely that the Emeralds will not be able to converse in the same language.
For instance, Pokello Nare used to speak to Hakeem Mandaza in Shona whenever she wanted to speak her mind.
So when that happens when JJ, an Emerald who is said to be from Zimbabwe, will be exposed.
So essentially Endemol South Africa overlooked this issue and it is easy to tell whether one is truly Zimbabwean or not by just the accent. The same is true of all the other Emeralds if they say they are from Zambia I am sure Cleo will be pleased to know from which part they are from.
No doubt this was one of the season’s biggest boobs.
