BCC fires fuel siphoning manager

Sikhumbuzo Moyo Check Point

BULAWAYO City Council has fired its ambulance services senior supervisor, Mr Peter Dube, after finding him guilty on four charges emanating from nearly 7 000 litres of diesel worth nearly US$10000 that went missing.
Council sources said Dube (57) appeared before a three-man disciplinary committee on Tuesday, facing charges of misappropriation, incompetence, missing log books and tampering with the speedometer of a service vehicle.

He was dismissed on two charges and given a final written warning on the other two, according to well-placed sources privy to the development.
BCC chamber secretary Mrs Sikhangele Zhou, could neither confirm nor deny the dismissal of Mr Dube, referring questions to the local authority’s Human Capital director, Mr Makhosi Tshalebwa.

“Please talk to the Human Capital Director, he oversees disciplinary processes,” said Mrs Zhou.
Mr Tshalebwa, in turn, said he was yet to be briefed by the disciplinary authority that heard the case, but would revert as soon as he had received the report.
