ZANU PF has challenged its senior members to serve as exemplary ambassadors by promoting the party’s brand with integrity, discipline and conviction.
Addressing the party provincial meeting in Harare yesterday, Zanu PF Harare provincial chairman Cde Godwills Masimirembwa urged party leaders to demonstrate exemplary conduct and remain committed to the party’s principles.
“Let us become exemplary ambassadors who proudly market the Zanu PF brand with integrity and conviction. Better lives begin with the choices we make and the full utilisation of opportunities that exist within our province.
“Let us fully harness our province’s comparative resource advantages and work together to build stronger communities and a stronger party,” he said.
Cde Masimirembwa warned members against name-dropping and abusing the party’s name to intimidate others or unlawfully acquire property or privileges.
He said members, particularly those in leadership positions, should uphold high standards of discipline and protect the party’s image.
Cde Masimirembwa described the Youth League as custodians of the revolutionary mass party, saying they must remain exemplary in conduct, unwavering in discipline and steadfast in principle.
He said young party members should emulate the courage, sacrifice and selflessness of liberation fighters who gave up their lives, families, education and personal comfort during the struggle for Zimbabwe’s independence.
According to Cde Masimirembwa, the legacy of the country’s freedom fighters should inspire every young cadre to serve with humility, integrity and unwavering commitment to both the party and the nation.
Turning to the role of party affiliates, he said their responsibility was to recruit new members instead of drawing people from existing party structures.
“We expect affiliates to bring in new people, new names. Don’t take those who are already in ZANU PF. Don’t just say you have people — prove it,” he said.
Speaking at the same meeting, Harare provincial Political Commissar Cde Voyage Dambuza said the province would soon begin establishing branch structures as part of efforts to strengthen the party ahead of future programmes.
He said the province would also commence inter-district mobilisation meetings, adding that the participation of Youth League and Women’s League chairpersons would be critical in strengthening coordination and grassroots mobilisation.
Cde Dambuza said President Mnangagwa had consistently reminded the province that electoral losses to the opposition reflected weaknesses that needed to be addressed.
“It is our collective responsibility to correct them. Leadership demands accountability, discipline and a change in mindset,” he said.
He also said the province remained focused on advancing the country’s Vision 2030 development agenda.
