THE race for Zimbabwe’s biggest beauty crown is entering its defining stage.
The top 18 finalists are preparing for an intensive bootcamp set to start on Sunday at a secret location.
With excitement steadily building around the Miss Universe Zimbabwe, organisers have now shifted focus towards grooming, polishing and preparing the finalists.
It is shaping up to be one of the toughest competitions in recent years. This year’s pageant carries even greater significance. Organisers are set to crown not one but five queens who will carry the nation’s flag onto various international stages.
The winners will represent the country as Miss Universe Zimbabwe, Miss World Zimbabwe, Miss International Zimbabwe, Miss Supranational Zimbabwe and Miss Cosmo Zimbabwe.
The expanded crowning structure has dramatically raised the stakes, turning the competition into a fierce battle of beauty, intelligence, elegance and resilience. Pageant chairperson, Danya Kabwebwe, said preparations for the prestigious showcase were now at an advanced stage, with contestants fully immersed in preparations ahead of the bootcamp.
“The girls are ready and excited. They have already completed their official photoshoots and right now they are busy working on their dresses together with different designers.”
She added that organisers were impressed by the level of commitment being shown by the finalists, many of whom have already demonstrated professionalism and discipline expected at international pageantry standards.
Behind the glitter and glamorous gowns, however, lies what insiders are describing as one of the most competitive editions the country has witnessed in years. Unlike previous seasons, dominated largely by fresh faces, this year’s line-up boasts experienced beauty queens, established runway models and even single mothers determined to rewrite narratives within the modelling industry.
The diversity among contestants has injected unpredictability into the competition, with many observers struggling to identify a clear frontrunner.
Some finalists are entering the pageant carrying previous pageantry experience and national titles under their belts.
Others have built respected careers within fashion and commercial modelling.
Their experience is expected to raise the overall quality of competition during the bootcamp and final showcase. The inclusion of single mothers has also been widely applauded within modelling circles, signalling the continued evolution of Zimbabwe’s beauty industry towards inclusivity and empowerment.
Industry watchers believe this year’s contestants reflect modern Zimbabwean womanhood — ambitious, resilient, elegant and fearless.
The upcoming bootcamp is expected to test contestants beyond physical beauty alone.
Finalists will undergo rigorous training sessions involving runway coaching, public speaking, fitness routines, media handling, etiquette and brand representation. Sources close to the organisers revealed that the secret location was deliberately chosen to allow contestants to focus fully on preparation away from outside distractions and social media pressure.
Fashion designers are working around the clock to perfect gowns and wardrobes that will complement the contestants during the competition.
The excitement surrounding this year’s pageant has also been heightened by the remarkable international performance of reigning queen Lyshanda Moyas.
She proudly carried Zimbabwe’s flag on the global stage and earned admiration for her confidence, elegance and representation skills.
Her reign has inspired renewed interest in pageantry among young Zimbabwean women.
It has also helped elevate the visibility of the Miss Universe Zimbabwe brand internationally.
Many aspiring contestants now see the platform as more than just a beauty competition but as a gateway towards influence, advocacy, international exposure and career growth.
Kabwebwe said the organisation remains committed to producing queens capable of competing confidently at global level while also representing Zimbabwean culture, beauty and intelligence with pride.
“We are looking for complete ambassadors who can represent the country exceptionally well internationally,” she said.
As the countdown towards the bootcamp begins, anticipation continues to grow across modelling and entertainment circles, with fans already debating who among the 18 finalists has what it takes to wear the crown. But if early signs are anything to go by, this year’s contest promises far more than glamour alone.
It promises drama, elegance, transformation and fierce competition.
And, somewhere behind the closed doors of that secret bootcamp location, Zimbabwe’s next queens are preparing for battle.
