BEDROOM BETRAYAL Neighbour’s affair blows families apart

A STEAMY neighbourhood affair has erupted into a bitter family feud, leaving three households torn apart and a once-quiet community buzzing with whispers of betrayal, business deals and broken trust.

At the centre of the storm is Nokuthula Nyathi (47), whose tangled love life has allegedly pulled in neighbour Saneliso Moyo and her husband Mxolisi Godfrey Moyo who is an ex-soldier as well as Methuseli Moyo turning friendship into open war.

Nyathi was previously in an eight-year relationship with Methuseli Moyo, a union that ended in 2023. Before that, she was linked to former football star, who allegedly left his wife and four children to cohabit with her. After her breakup with Methuseli, Nyathi reportedly entered another brief relationship before growing close to her neighbour, Mxolisi.

Neighbours say Nyathi was initially friendly with both Mxolisi and his wife, often visiting their home and discussing business ideas. Sources claim she explored using Mxolisi’s company to secure tenders at her workplace, strengthening the bond between the three. But what began as business talk allegedly crossed into something far more intimate.

According to residents, Mxolisi began taking Nyathi on trips to South Africa, raising eyebrows in the neighbourhood. Whispers grew louder until they eventually reached Saneliso.

Methuseli confirmed his past relationship with Nyathi and painted a picture of events that followed their breakup.

“Yes, I was involved in an eight-year relationship with Nokuthula. We were both single,” he said. “After the relationship ended, I was harassed for two years through WhatsApp messages from a South African number. When I blocked it, my wife and son were targeted. There were even threats to burn our house, which I reported to ZRP Magwegwe.”

Methuseli believes the harassment was linked to his past relationship with Nyathi.

The former footballer denied having a sexual relationship with Nyathi.

“She only brought company vehicles to my workshop for panel beating,” he said.

Sources further claim Nyathi chased away her nephew, identified only as Ntando, from her home after suspecting he had leaked information to Saneliso about her dealings and relationships.

Saneliso told B-Metro the affair shattered her marriage and home.

“It started with rumours from neighbours,” she said. “I became suspicious when Nokuthula reacted angrily over club money and made comments that showed there was more than business between her and my husband.”

She said matters came to a head on 12 January.

“I confronted my husband, and on the same day Nokuthula came to my house, swearing and using vulgar language. My husband then assaulted me in front of our five children,” she said.

Saneliso said she later uncovered evidence that her husband and Nyathi had been meeting in Johannesburg.

“Their passports can show the trips. What hurts most is that I had just given birth, and my husband did not support me during labour, unlike before,” she said.

“He has been threatening me with unspecified action saying there is nothing I can do to him because he is connected, he has friends at Zacc, police and other institutions.”

Nokuthula Nyathi

Neighbours described the saga as a messy blend of love, money and power. Nyathi, a former motor spares dealer, is alleged to have used connections in the automotive and construction sectors to advance her interests, a pattern observers say followed her into her current role at the Ministry of Health of Child Care.

Nyathi laughed the issue off and declined to comment. Spirited efforts to get her side of the story were unsuccessful as she ignored phone calls. Called on his registered Econet number, Mxolisi said he did not know the person B-Metro wanted to talk to.
