Beefy lands Quelaton job

His appointment is up to the end of the season and could be renewed if the team survives relegation.

Ncube takes over from Farai Sibanda who has been on an acting capacity for the past six games following the sacking of Thulani Sibanda in April.

Sibanda was fired following a string of poor results.

“Yes it’s true that we have engaged Ncube as our new head coach with immediate effect. His task is to steer the team away from relegation,” said Quelaton director and Bulawayo businessman Tawanda Ruzive.

He said while the 2008 Coach of the Year and former Njube Sundowns and Chicken Inn coach had indicated that he will bring in his assistant, the incumbent Sibanda will be one of the coaching

Under Sibanda, Quelaton picked up seven points after beating Harare City, Gunners and a draw against Hardbody at Luveve Stadium last month.

The team registered losses against Monomotapa, Caps United and FC Platinum with an administrative boob seeing them lie third from the bottom with four points after they had three points deducted for fielding a suspended player in their 3-0 loss to Motor Action.

“Ncube has already identified his right hand man and since we are yet to finalise certain issues with him, I would rather not reveal his identity or where he is from,” said Ruzive.

However soon after Thulani was relieved of his duties, Ruzive indicated that they were going to settle for a Bulawayo-based gaffer, somebody whom he said understood the culture of the club.

He said the club was confident that with his experience, Ncube was going to add value to the club and also help in identifying players during the second transfer-window which opens for a month in two weeks time.

“We will be beefing up our squad during the transfer window and Ncube will certainly help in identifying those players that can stand the heat in the Premiership,” said Ruzive.

Had the league not postponed league matches over the weekend, Ncube’s first match in charge would have been against fellow league debutants and 2011 Zifa Central Region Division    One champions Hardbody at Luveve Stadium.
