Bekker eyes SA tourney

JUNIOR golf sensation Danielle Bekker will take part in the Nomads South African Girls Rose Bowl Stroke Play Championship at the end of this month. The 11-year old Chapman golfer is looking forward to the event set for Rondebosch Golf Course in Cape Town from March 31 – April 1.

Bekker recently won the Matabeleland Strokeplay A Division at Bulawayo Golf Club last weekend with scores of 87 and 90.
The 11-year-old had to contend with several A Division players but she managed to stamp her authority to win the event.

Patricia Makurumure came second in the A Division with scores of 101 and 88 while Loveness Chandavengerwa completed the top three.
The recently-crowned Nigeria Open champion Yolanda Mubaiwa proved that she is on top of her game when she carded 81 and 80 for a gross 161 to win the Championship Division title.

Mubaiwa was taking part in her first event after winning an international tournament last month. Loice Chingono was the runner-up with scores of 83 and 86. Shamiso Makwara was third and Aullia Alfazema fourth.

Nancy Dube won the B Division title on 185 gross score after she carded 90 and 95.
