LONDON. — Arsenal are investigating claims that striker Nicklas Bendnter threatened a taxi driver on a drunken rampage on Tuesday night. Danish tabloid BT claim that the 26-year-old Denmark centre forward “ran amok” in Copenhagen while his team-mates were getting knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.
Bendtner, who is out of contract at the Emirates in the summer, did not travel to Germany as he was not selected as part of Arsene Wenger’s 18-man squad.
It is alleged that Bendtner threatened the taxi driver before unbuttoning his trousers and rubbing himself against the side of the cab.
The taxi driver was quoted in BT as saying: “I’ve run with drunks and alcoholics in Copenhagen for over 25 years, but I’ve never experienced anything like it.”
Arsenal are looking into the matter and Bendtner could face a maximum fine of two weeks wages.
The Dane spoke before his country’s international friendly against England last week, and hinted that he is looking to leave Arsenal.
“I have been very positive and I feel I have shown every time I have played that I want to play there,’ Bendtner said.
“I don’t think I have ever like pulled my socks down and been like “f*** this, I don’t care”, but I have played like I had a future there, and I am going to continue doing that until the end of the season, then we might part ways.
“I will have no hard feelings I have had a good time there, and if it does finish for us, then I am going to be a bit upset, but that is football, that is life.’
On the prospect of moving on and other club’s perception of him, Bendtner says he has been ‘made into a psychopath”.
He added before the England game: ‘I have, for example, talked to clubs who say they have heard this or that story about me. So I have to tell them that it is not true.
“Of all the things that I have been associated with I have only done one thing wrong and that was in Copenhagen (where he was arrested for drink driving). Regardless of this I have, bit by bit, in people’s eyes been made into a psychopath.’

March 2013: Banned from driving for three years and fined £100,000 for being over the legal drink-drive limit after he was spotted by police in Copenhagen driving against the traffic. Hit with a six-month playing ban by Denmark.
