Belvedere students graduate

official in his ministry at the graduation of 469 students at Belvedere Technical Teachers College last week, Higher and Tertiary Education Minister Stan Mudenge said that any nation that strives to build robust industrial base could not do so without technical specialists.

“Globally, countries that are economic giants like China and Japan invested heavily in technical and technological training and development.
“It is this role that the Ministry has entrusted upon BTTC and, through these 469 graduants, that the country is ensured of development.”
Minister Mudenge said the graduation theme; “Education and Training: Key to capacity building for national development,” was a befitting thrust by the college as it

was in tandem with national development policies.
University of Zimbabwe vice-chancellor Professor Levi Nyagura, who also graced the event, said: “I urge you to strive for excellence as you serve both Zimbabwe and Namibia. I also expect you to develop yourselves as you’ve been given the foundation and direction.”

Acting BTTC principal Mr Patreck Chinhoro thanked Government for adopting the programme of technical teachers training. “To date the college has churned out more than 10 000 graduates in response to efforts of making education more relevant,” he said.
BTTC has a staff complement of 160 lecturers and 100 non-teaching staff.
