President Mnangagwa has been commended for ensuring the timely distribution of inputs under the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme.
Beneficiaries could not hide their joy as they received their inputs during the Mashonaland East provincial launch of the 2024/ 2025 season for the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme held in Ward 16, Goromonzi District on Tuesday.
Beneficiaries received inputs as well as chicks under the Presidential Poultry Scheme.
The programme was also attended by Government officials.
In her remarks, the acting provincial director of the Agricultural and Rural Development Advisory Services Mrs Tetiwe Mupakwe commended the timely distribution of inputs and called on beneficiaries to continue working hard and ensure food security at household level.
“Let us all applaud our President for this gesture. He is the one who came up with this programme to ensure food security everyday, everywhere,” she said.
“This means no one will die of hunger. Pfumvudza came to end hunger. Let me also thank the farmers for the preparations they are making on the plots to increase yields. The objective is to end hunger.
“Our Government has introduced a lot of programmes aimed at supporting farmers and for the nation to be food secure. Let us embrace them. This year, it is predicted that we will receive good rains. So let us make sure we are prepared. On its part, Government is availing inputs. So let us play our part.
“Food security is possible. Let us all work together. We need to be food secure and attain Vision 2030.”
Farmers thanked President Mnangagwa for remembering them.
“I am a young person who is benefiting from this programme, thanks to President Mnangagwa,” said Ms Sarudzai Chibamu.
“Last year we did not have any yields due to the drought but we are optimistic that we will have a bumper harvest this coming season.
“As we speak, I have prepared seven plots and what makes me even happier is that the President has fulfilled his promise of ensuring the timely distribution of inputs. We are now just waiting for the rains.
“I enjoy farming and fellow farmers can testify that they are always food secure.”
