Benteke ripped into

LONDON. – Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has questioned the signing of Christian Benteke, saying he lacks key traits that the Reds need.

Brendan Rodgers snapped up the big Belgian for £32,5 million on Wednesday but Carragher is far from sure about his latest piece of business.

The former Kop great believes Benteke has a poor touch and suffers from a “lack of interest” at times.

Carragher also thinks the 6ft 3in striker is not suited to Liverpool’s short, sharp style and could be too slow to implement Rodgers’ game plan.

The ex-England star reckons Benteke would have suited a team like Chelsea better.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, Carragher revealed: “We’ve been impressed by how Benteke has torn teams apart — Liverpool, against whom he scored five goals in six games, have really suffered — we also know when his touch has been poor and his lack of interest has been apparent. – The Daily Star.
