Betterbrands leads the charge in Matabeleland football development

Betterbrands, the brainchild of Pedizsai ‘Scott’ Sakupwanya, has emerged as a driving force in the development of football in Matabeleland, with a string of high-profile signings and sponsorships that underscore the company’s commitment to the region.

Sakupwanya, a renowned businessman and football enthusiast, has been instrumental in bringing top talent to the region, with a slew of players and administrators from Matabeleland joining the Betterbrands stable.

“We’re passionate about developing football in Matabeleland, and we’re committed to providing opportunities for local talent to shine,” Sakupwanya said.

“Our signings are not just about bringing in top players, but also about creating a sustainable future for football in the region.”

Betterbrands’ influence in Matabeleland is perhaps best exemplified by its partnership with Highlanders, one of the region’s most beloved clubs. The company has provided significant financial backing to the club, enabling it to compete at the highest level.

“Betterbrands has been a game-changer for Highlanders,” said Highlanders chairman, Kenneth Mhlophe.

“Their support has allowed us to attract top talent and compete with the best teams in the country.”

But Betterbrands’ influence extends far beyond Highlanders and the Matabeleland region. The company also sponsors Simba Bhora FC, another prominent club from the region, and has provided support to several lower-division teams from Mabvuku, Sakupwanya’s hometown.

“Betterbrands’ support has been instrumental in our growth as a club,” said Taurai Janhi, secretary-general of Simba Bhora FC.

“Their commitment to developing football in the country is inspiring, and we’re grateful to be a part of their vision.”

For Sakupwanya, the motivation behind Betterbrands’ involvement in football is simple: a passion for the beautiful game, and a desire to give back to his community.

“Football has the power to unite people and bring joy to communities,” Sakupwanya said.

“We’re proud to be playing a role in developing the sport in Matabeleland, and we look forward to continuing our support for local clubs and players.”

The company also sponsors several lower-division teams from Mabvuku, Sakupwanya’s hometown.

“Scott Sakupwanya is a true son of Mabvuku, and his commitment to developing football in our suburb is inspiring,” said Mabvuku resident, Brandon Mahara.

“Betterbrands is making a real difference in our community, and we’re grateful for their support.”
