Police have warned church congregants to be wary of a group of women that is targeting worshippers, especially in Harare, stealing money and valuables while people are praying or singing. National police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi said in a statement that church members should be aware of strangers in their churches.

He said there were reports from the Kensington area where a group of women travelling in a getaway car stole a bag at a church gathering and later dumped it at another church in Eastlea with cash and other valuables missing.

“Meanwhile, church members are urged to be wary of strangers who sit next to them while proceedings are in progress,” said Chief Supt Nyathi.
He called on church leaders to hire security to assist in monitoring their congregations.
