Award winning afro- fusion group, Mokoomba will this Saturday leave the country for their debut two-month tour of the United States and Canada.
Mokoomba’s band manager Marcus Gora said the tour is another milestone for the group. “We are happy that this time we will be invading new land and we owe this success to our local fans. Their support made us popular internationally and we are coming back o0n August 27,” he said.
Gora said the band is geared up and ready to lift the country’s flag high.
“We are prepared for the tour and we promise to deliver polished acts considering that this is a different market and new audience. We shall represent the country well,” he said.
The youthful group bid farewell to their fans over the weekend at the Book Cafe where they were performed.
The outfit returned home early this month after touring Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa as part of the Festfire Festival.
In Swaziland the group dazzled fans during the MTN Bushfire Festival.
MTN Bushfire is Swaziland’s internationally acclaimed three-day arts festival that celebrates creative expressions while promoting social responsibility, stimulating the economy and drawing artistes and tourists from across Africa and the world.
Last month Mokoomba bagged home International Artist of the Year award at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards held in London.
The youthful group is popularly known for their tracks such as “Mangongo”, “Misozi”, “Mvula”, “Welelye”, “Manunge” and “Nyaradzo”.
The group rose to national fame by winning a string of competitions laid on by Music Crossroads International — a non-profit organisation that supports musical education throughout Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia.
