The match was played during a cold Tuesday night and the Warriors left back, returning from international duty, justified his inclusion to the starting line-up with a powerfully headed shot that gave home team goalkeeper Seb Brown no chance at all.
On their first trip to Wimbledon’s tiny Kingsmeadow Stadium, Argyle made three changes to the team which lost to Gillingham over the weekend.
Top scorer Simon Walton returned to the centre of midfield in place of Conor Hourihane. Bhasera took Ashley Hemmings’ spot on the left wing and Durrell Berry was preferred to Paul Bignot at right-back.
The Pilgrims, playing in their all white change strip, made an unbelievable start, scoring from the kick-off.
They had the ball in the net after just 11 seconds when Berry put in a great cross for Bhasera to powerfully head in, much to the delight of the travelling fans.
Pilgrims manager Carl Fletcher would not have just been delighted that Argyle scored so early, but that it was two of the players he had brought back into the team who combined to give his side the lead.
Bhasera, despite being on top of his game for the English side, was continuously left out of the Warriors squad by Norman Mapeza until Rahman Gumbo, the Warriors’ caretaker coach called him up for the 2013 Nations Cup qualifier against Burundi last week.
While Bhasera was on cloud nine, suspended Warriors’ player Ovidy Karuru, who plays in France for Ligue Two side US Boulogne, was in misery as his side’s survival struggle suffered a further knock after falling at home 0-2 to Lens.
Karuru, who nevertheless has been having a decent performance for his otherwise ailing outfit, was introduced towards the twilight of the game for Stanislas Oliveira but by then it was already two late.
Boulogne started the season badly and their performance deteriorated steadily until now and it will take a miracle for them to survive. They lie 19th in a 20-team league with 25 points.
In Denmark, another suspended Warriors player, Quincy Antipas, was on the receiving end as his side Sonderjyske fell 1-0 to Brondby and they now need to win at least one game in their last three games in order to survive the dreaded chop.
