Bid to impress woman goes sour

Tinashe Piruke (32) was convicted on his own plea of guilty to impersonating charges when he appeared before magistrate Ms Bianca Makwande.

Ms Makwande deferred sentence to today.
Complainant in the matter is Spiwe Petro (26) who resides at Old Willdale compound in Mt Hampden.

Prosecutor, Mrs Auxillia Mangwaira told the court that sometime in April last year, Piruke met Petro and introduced himself as Steward Moyo.

While coaxing Petro, Piruke told her that he was a member of the Zimbabwe National Army stationed at Pomona Barracks.
Petro fell in love with Piruke believing every word he said.
After a month of dating the two then decided to stay together as husband and wife in May.

During their stay together Piruke would leave early in the morning indicating that he was going to work.
On several occasions Piruke and his wife had misunderstandings on where he was keeping his uniform and pay slips.

On December 3 Petro saw a photograph in which her husband was clad in an army uniform.
She confronted her about the protograph and Piruki took it away indicating that he wanted to enlarge the photo.

The couple had a dark Christmas as Piruki failed to bring his bonus from ZNA home.
On New Years eve Petro could no longer stomach the hardships anymore, she confronted her husband about the whereabouts of his payslips.

She proceeded to Mt Hampden police station where she filed a report against her husband.
She also produced the photograph which she later saw in his monarch leading to his arrest.
