Police national spokesperson Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident yesterday.
He said the incident occurred on April 25 when the outspoken MP had visited his brother, Chamunorwa, in Seke, Chitungwiza.
“We confirm the arrest of MDC-T MP for Zaka Central Harrison Mudzuri in connection with a case of indecent assault,” said Supt Nyathi.
It is alleged that Harrison visited Chamunorwa, and during his stay at the residence, he was left alone with the 17-year-old maid.
“The incident happened on April 25 at 0800hours after Chamunorwa and his wife left Harrison and the maid at their Seke residence,” he said.
It is alleged in the morning when the two were left together, the MP called the maid where he was sleeping and she complied and went to the room to find out why the legislator had called her.
During their conversation, Mudzuri proposed love to the maid, but the proposal was turned down, it is alleged.
“The MP then grabbed the maid by the waist with both hands shouting that ‘you are now old enough, let’s sleep together,”’ said Supt Nyathi.
It is alleged that a scuffle ensued as the MP tried to impose himself on the maid while the latter resisted.
“She then managed to free herself and ran away. She reported the incident to Chamunorwa’s wife and later to her mother. This led to the arrest of the MP and he is currently in police custody assisting with investigations,” said Supt Nyathi.
