the call in which Muchauraya allegedly threatened to kill him.
Muchauraya (39) is being charged with two counts of threats to commit murder after threatening to kill the party’s treasurer for Women’s Assembly for Makoni South, Sophia Chibayambuya and Nyarota. He is appearing before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe.

It is alleged he also confessed to Chibayambuya that he killed the former MP for the area, John Nyamande, in 2009.
Nyarota told the court that he was shocked that the MP could threaten him with death. He said he felt extremely frightened.
“He used a private number and I recognised his voice immediately.

He said, ‘Uri zibenzi. Uri kutumira anhu ako kwendiri. Asi uchafa. Ndichakuuraya. Ndinouraya inini’,” Nyarota told the court.
He added that he called Muchauraya a few minutes later but he did not pick his phone and when he called for the second time, the phone had been switched off.
He said he later sent a text message on the phone expressing concern over the call before sending a message to the party’s organising secretary Mr Nelson Chamisa.

Nyarota told the court that they used to be in good books with Muchauraya but bad blood developed in February this year after Muchauraya knew that he was eyeing his seat.
The trial continues on May 2.

Prosecutor Mr Nyikadzino Machingura alleged that on February 25 around 1pm, Muchauraya called Chibayambuya and identified himself as “Honourable Member of Parliament Pishai”.

It is alleged that he questioned her about people who were distributing Nyarota’s fliers denouncing him.
Chibayambuya told him that she had no knowledge of that, resulting in Muchauraya ordering her to make inquiries.

During the conversation, it is alleged that Muchauraya became abusive and started insulting and threatening Chibayambuya saying that he was capable of killing people.
On February 28, it is alleged Muchauraya phoned Nyarota and threatened him with death.
The case was reported to the police leading to Muchauraya’s arrest.
