ALL is set for the Big Bowl gospel concert taking place at the Bulawayo Theatre on Saturday.
The event is being held to raise funds to assist less privileged members of the community especially inmates in children’s homes. Various gospel artistes including Vocal X, Ex-Mile, Thandy Dlana, Rudo Amor, New Life Covenant Church, Zet Moyo and Wipers Gospel will provide entertainment.
Dot Youth – organisers of the show – said proceeds of the show would be donated to Emthunzini Wethemba – a children’s orphanage in Mzilikazi suburb.
Arthur Chisango, Dot Youth programmes manager, said the concert was titled Big Bowl as it symbolises charity.
“The Big Bowl campaign is an initiative aimed at bringing young people, youth groups and interested members of society together to provide sustainable support to the less privileged members of the community, particularly children in children’s homes,” Chisango said.
Asked why they chose to donate to Emthunzini Wethemba, Chisango said it was because they wanted to rescue the orphanage which is facing a possible shutdown.
“It was reported that Emthunzini Wethemba home was facing a possible shutdown due to a lot of challenges they were facing such as the daily upkeep of the children. We were touched by this and decided to organise the gospel concert to try and raise funds to help save the home from being shut down,” he said.
Chisango said they would not only focus on assisting Emthunzini Wethemba but would also assist other children’s homes within Bulawayo.
“Plans are underway to have another charity concert in December on a bigger scale. The proceeds raised from the next concert will hopefully go to 10 children’s homes in Bulawayo,” he said.
