ORGANISERS of the inaugural Mashonaland Central Achievers Awards (MCAA) yesterday hailed the Government ministries and the corporate world for supporting their show.

The awards will be held at Kangara Resort (Acadia Dam) in Bindura tomorrow.

Speaking to H-Metro, event coordinator, Umtali Saidi, said he was happy with the backing from various sponsors.

He said the awards will honour both living and departed legends who put the province and Zimbabwe on the world map.

Nominees will be vying for gongs in various categories such as arts and entertainment, mining, rural and urban community development, voluntary community development, education and tourism.

“We are happy that everything is going according to plan.

“Being our first edition, we have had massive support  from Government ministries  and  the corporate world, among other partners.

“We have big corporates like Econet, Delta Beverages, PEPSI, Afdis, Schweppes, Mukuru and Inn Bucks coming on board,” he said.

“All the nominees have assured us they will be available and we have done all the ground work on our part.
