Baxon Gopito starred with a fluent 89 off 61 balls for Takashinga Patriots 2, setting up a commanding 180-run victory over Chiredzi in a National Premier League (NPL) match at Masvingo Sports Club on Sunday.

He built on a solid third-wicket stand of 130 between Tanunurwa Makoni (62) and Ryan Kamwemba (57), helping Takashinga to a total of 298 for nine.

Chiredzi faltered in reply, managing just 118 with no batter reaching 20.

Takashinga needed only four bowlers, with Wishnenzy Chapfombo and John Masara claiming three wickets apiece.

At Old Hararians Sports Club on Sunday, Centuries from Milton Shumba and Lennox Chando powered Gladiators to a 98-run win over Mbizo.

After an early setback at four for one, Shumba and Chando combined for a destructive partnership of 242.

Chando smashed 122 off 102 balls (two sixes, 16 fours), while Shumba struck 138 off 127 (five sixes, 11 fours), guiding Gladiators to 328 for four.

Mbizo showed fight with 230 for nine in reply, Selim Salau top-scoring with 54.

At Kwekwe Sports Club on Sunday, table-toppers Rangers brushed aside Amakhosi 2 with a nine-wicket victory.

Amakhosi were bundled out for 110, with Wallace Mubayiwa and Johnathan Campbell sharing three wickets each.

Rangers made short work of the chase, cruising home inside 12 overs as David Johnson (55 not out) and Jayden Schadendorf (35 not out) finished unbeaten.

At Masvingo Sports Club on Saturday, Methane Lions claimed a 62-run win over Westside.

Batting first, they posted 240 for seven, built around Huzefa Ali’s 61 and Tawanda Damiso’s unbeaten 46.

Westside never recovered from losing both openers cheaply to Stanley Joe.

Although Moses Karimaguti resisted with 61, their chase never gathered momentum.

At Old Hararians Sports Club on Saturday, Ronak Patel and Graeme Cremer shone in Takashinga Patriots 1’s emphatic 133-run win over Eastern Titans.

Takashinga recovered from 25 for three, with Roy Kaia (42) steadying the innings before Patel anchored the effort with an unbeaten 96 off 110 balls.

He was well supported by Tafadzwa Tsiga’s brisk 66 not out off 46, lifting the total to 263 for five.

In reply, Titans struggled as Cremer ripped through the middle order, finishing with five for 27.

No batter could pass 23.

At Kadoma Sports Club on Saturday, Rimuka edged Alexandra by three wickets in a tightly contested clash.

For Alexandra, Hamza Khan (53) and Ahsan Aqil Ali (48) added 107 for the second wicket, but their side managed only 202, with Nyasha Dube taking four in the middle order.

Rimuka had to work hard in reply, with Villan Changa (50) and Nyasha Mayavo (52) proving decisive.

Saood Ali struck with four wickets, but Rimuka got home with three wickets in hand.

At Bulawayo Athletic Club on Saturday, Amakhosi 1 prevailed by four wickets in a low-scoring Bulawayo derby against Queens Sports Club.

Queens managed only 111, with Munashe Chimusoro’s 65 accounting for more than half their total.

Talent Dzikiti and Tinaye Mazonde each claimed three wickets.

Amakhosi stuttered to 49 for four in reply but Brian Chari’s steady 27 not out guided them to victory.
