A 55-YEAR-OLD man residing in Bumputu Village in Binga has been sentenced to 16 months imprisonment by the Hwange Magistrates for assault.
According to a statement from the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe, Alec Moyo and the complainant left Ndimuchega business center together on their way home.
Along the way, the complainant asked Moyo about his extramarital affair with a certain woman and he advised him to end it, before they parted ways.
“Later that night, around 2300 hours, the offender arrived at the complainant’s homestead. The complainant who was sleeping in his bedroom hut, was informed by his mother that the offender wanted to speak to him.
The complainant went outside and found the offender seated, with the complainant’s mother standing nearby.
“The offender confronted the complainant about their earlier conversation regarding the alleged affair. Before the complainant could respond, the offender stood up and stabbed him with a knife once on the right thigh, once on the right knee, and once on the left thigh. As a result of the assault, the complainant sustained serious injuries,” reads the statement.
Moyo was sentenced to 16 months imprisonment, with 12 months of the sentence suspended for five years on the condition of good behavior.
