A 43-YEAR-OLD man known as “Bishop” has appeared in court on charges of armed robbery linked to a US$22 108 heist at Honeypot business premises in Hatfield, Harare, last year.
Tonderai Muzira appeared before Harare regional magistrate Mrs Jesse Kufa, who advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
He was represented by Mr Moffat Makuvatsine.
The State alleges that on May 19, 2025, at around 9pm, Muzira and his accomplices — who have since been arrested — carried out a planned robbery at Honey Pot Maheu, located at number 2699 Arlington Industrial Area in Hatfield.
The gang allegedly armed themselves with pistols, iron bars and hammers before attacking security guards at the premises. They assaulted the guards and forced one to remove his uniform, which was then worn by a suspect, the court heard.
Prosecutor Mr Oscar Madhume told the court that the gang marched the guards to a workshop where other employees were gathered. All victims were ordered to lie down and their hands and legs were bound with sellotape.
The suspects then broke into the accounts office, blasted open a safe and stole US$22 108 in cash before fleeing in a getaway vehicle, according to the State.
Muzira is no stranger to robbery charges. He was previously implicated in a 2022 robbery at ZX Fuels Company involving more than US$380 000 and has a pending robbery case in Mutare.
