Biti blames special vote chaos on ‘hidden hand’

is that there is an absence of leadership, we are seeing a kwashiorkor of leadership and to be fair, it is not the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s fault,” said Mr Biti. “There is a hidden hand creating and controlling this chaos, there is a hand that is creating and driving this chaos.”

ZEC deputy chairperson Mrs Joice Kazembe, however, said on Sunday that the multiple court challenges by the MDC formations on the results of the nomination courts that sat last month had caused delays in the printing of ballots. The Electoral Courts only cleared the cases on Friday.

Mr Biti also repeated claims that the playing field was not level but said his party would take part in the polls.

“I was with some election observers before we started this meeting and certain people are calling for a free and fair election in Zimbabwe. It is too late, it is too late for that. This election is neither legal, legitimate, is immoral, is unfree and is unfair.

“We are participating in this election because our people are tired, our people are saying we know that it’s illegitimate Cde Tsvangirai, we know that it is unfair, it is immoral, its unfree but we are tired and that is why you are seeing all the thousands and thousands of people at our rallies and we are going to continue with them,” he said.
