Mutare based musician Blessing Shumba was at the weekend the centre of attraction during the launch of Indigenous Pastors Fraternity of Zimbabwe held at the Netball Complex in Mbare. Scores of fans took to the pitch when Shumba belted out songs from his hit album “NdiMwari”. Songs such as “Mufaro”, “Mabasa” and “Kutenda” from his upcoming album whipped church goers into a frenzy as they danced and sang along.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event Shumba said he had finished working on his album that will be out anytime soon.
“Titled ‘Holy Psalms Vol 1’ is now ready and we are now in the process of engaging Metro Studios to market the album,” said Shumba.
Bishop Munyaradzi Pundo who is the leader of the group said he was happy with the commitment the artist had shown.
“Our PA system came late but he was patient enough to wait and give the people the word of God,” Bishop Pundo said.
The same dedication could not be said of the other artists scheduled to perform at the event.
Musicians Hosiah Chipanga and Agatha Murudzwa failed to turn up and did not deign to send any apologies, excuses or explanations.
Organisers of the show said they were still to find out why they failed to attend the show.
Senior Minister of State in the President’s Office Simon Khaya Moyo and Minister of State for Harare Metropolitan Province Miriam Chikukwa graced the event.
