BLOODY BETRAYAL!, Husband busted for brutal murder after blaming ‘robbers’

A BULAWAYO man is behind bars after allegedly bludgeoning his wife to death and trying to cover it up with a bogus robbery story.

Blessed Mpofu (29) was arrested on Saturday, 5 April, after the lifeless body of his wife, Shylet Siyabonga (21), was discovered at a house near Insukamini, ZETDC sub-station, with gruesome head injuries.

In a bid to dodge suspicion, Mpofu reportedly told police that Shylet had been attacked by unknown robbers near Emganwini Shopping Centre on her way home. But the plot quickly unravelled.

Police investigations led officers back to the house — and that’s where the dark truth came to light. A blood-stained rake and broom were recovered at the scene, pointing straight at Mpofu as the killer.

“The evidence recovered on-site linked the suspect to the murder,” said national police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi in a statement on X.

The shocking crime has rocked the Insukamini area, with residents expressing disbelief over the brutality and deception of someone so close to the victim.

Mpofu is now facing a murder charge for killing Shylet, whose young life was snuffed out in a moment of savage violence.
