SOLUSI University is set to dig up 14 unidentified graves at its farm, clearing the way for a major arable land expansion project.

The Seventh-day Adventist-run institution, located in Bulilima Ward 19, issued a public notice confirming the exhumation of the graves, which are believed to be unclaimed and undocumented.

Describing the situation as a “rescue case,” Solusi University says the graves – situated 18km from campus – stand in the way of urgent development plans. But officials insist it’ll be done by the book.

“The exhumation will be carried out in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations, and with utmost respect and dignity for the deceased,” read the statement, citing both the Cemeteries Act and the National Museums and Monuments Act.
