reverse fixture at Rufaro on Sunday.
Ndabambi, buoyed by his team’s win over Black Mambas in his first game in charge of Rangers, yesterday taunted Dynamos insisting they are not as potent as they were when they hammered Rangers 6-0 at the same venue.
The nomadic coach reckoned that a lot had changed between the two teams since their first meeting and felt there would be no goal harvest for the Glamour Boys this time around.
Instead, Ndabambi warned Dynamos to brace for an upset.
Big striker Takesure Chinyama, now at Orlando Pirates, sunk a hat-trick while Roderick Mutuma and the youthful duo of Farai Mupasiri and Tichaona Mabvura weighed in with a goal each as Dynamos tore apart Rangers outfit that had just parted ways with coach Misheck Chidzambwa hours before the game.
Chidzambwa resigned following an ugly spat with the club’s executive over the fielding of skipper Nyasha Chazika.
The veteran coach had excluded Chazika from the team after the defender had missed training but the executive insisted that the former youth international should be fielded.
Chidzambwa’s assistant Masimba Dinyero who was later fired, took charge of the game as Dynamos registered their most empathic win in the Premiership this season.
It was Dynamos’ first victory over Rangers who had dominated over the previous two meetings when they were still known as Blue Ribbon last year.
During the first clash in Week 13 in 2011, Tineyi Chitora scored a brace in their 2-1 win while Denver Mukamba reduced the deficit.
Blue Rangers won the reverse fixture through a lone strike from James Jam but Dynamos whipped them into submission with a 6-0 whacking last month.
Now Ndabambi has taken over at Blue Rangers and has been motivated by their 2-1 victory over Black Mambas last weekend in his first game.
“We started the match against Black Mambas a bit jittery but I believe we played well in the second half.
“In the first half the opponents came in our box 10 times while we only had four attempts.
“So we are motivated by the win and naturally the guys are happy to play against Dynamos,” said Ndabambi.
Ndabambi has brought in new players during the mid-season transfer window.
Experienced goalkeeper Pedzisai Gumiremhete, Macdonald Motsi, Munyaradzi Tafirenyika, Jealous Wilson, Phillip Nelson, David Temwanjera, Lawrence Mwashita,
James Marufu, Lawrence Mdhluli and Hillary Chombe are now part of the squad.
Chazika is still with the team but Clive Boroma has since moved to JMC Academy in Division One.
“I have brought in 10 players so the competition is now intense.
“One thing is that I have motivated the players by talking to them and I have emphasised that this is the chance to market themselves.
“I have told them about Denver Mukamba who was virtually unknown at Kiglon but they dominated Dynamos and since then he is now a household name,” said Ndabambi.
The former Amazulu coach said he is not looking much into the 6-0 drubbing they received in the last match.
“A lot of things have changed since Blue Rangers lost 6-0.
“I am certain it will not be another drubbing and we are not intimated at all,” he said.
Ndabambi is drawing some of his confidence in that he has posted two previous victories over Dynamos.
“We are the underdogs in this match and will not be under any pressure.
“I still remember in 1997 when I was coaching Amazulu and we beat Dynamos 3-2 and by then (Callisto) Pasuwa was a player.
“Then in 2005, when I was at Shooting Stars, we beat Dynamos 3-0 in the Independence Cup final.
“We are playing at home and my players know what it means for them if they beat Dynamos,” said Ndabambi.
DeMbare are however on a mission t try and close the gap between them and leaders Highlanders who will also visit the capital this weekend.
In fact Dynamos will be hoping that their bitter city rivals CAPS United do them a big favour 24-hour earlier by handing Bosso their first defeat of the season.
CAPS United’s have a new technical department led by Taurai Mangwiro and former Bosso coach Mkhupali Masuku.
