BN Academy resume training sessions

The academy, which specialises in junior football development, is set to unveil new recruits.
BN Academy director, Bhekhi Nyoni, said they were coming from a very successful 2011.

“We have set ourselves good targets this year and we are hopeful that all soccer loving kids will come and join the academy this season.
“We are looking forward to promoting several juniors to higher ranks and most of the juniors are likely to join teams in the lower division leagues.

“We prefer most of our players to begin their careers in lower divisions like Division One and Two as this will give them exposure.

“Having managed to teach players some basics like ball control, passing and dribbling, they need exposure in the field of play and they can get it at Division One and Division Two teams,” Nyoni said.

Nyoni also took time to reflect on the Academy’s progress last year.
“Last year we progressed very well and we look forward to surpassing the levels this year.
“We managed to incorporate Peterhouse, who brought in 30 boys for a training session, before we had a donation by Hyundai in August last year.

“Through the donation we managed to distribute soccer balls to the participants. We managed to host a Select team from Pin Code Nembudziya which played several teams here.

“The academy also managed to secure a sponsorship package of US$15 000 through the Powernet deal and the tournament was later won by DC Academy,” Nyoni said.

This year BN Academy will host tournaments for the Under-16 and Under-20 players.
“As we begin our season this weekend at Belgravia Sports Club we are looking forward to a great year.

“The academy is well equipped and the players who need to improve in the basics of football can join us for every Saturday practice session.
“If we can have sponsorship there is going to be several tournaments this year,” Nyoni said.
