Body of murdered man remains unclaimed for three months

POLICE in Matabeleland South Province have appealed for assistance to locate relatives of a man whose body has not been claimed from United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) mortuary for more than three months.

The man identified as Mr Khumbulani Mhlanga lived at Claremount Mine in Fort Rixon and was stabbed to death on March 21.

Police say he is suspected to be from Lupane.

In a statement Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Philisani Ndebele appealed to relatives of the now deceased to contact the police.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is holding remains of a male adult body at United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary. The victim is known as Khumbulani Mhlanga and is suspected to be from Lupane area. The now deceased had stayed at Claremount Mine, Fort Rixon for close to 13 years,” he said.

Chief Insp Ndebele said on 21 March Mr Mhlanga was stabbed to death at the mine.
