The body of an unidentified man was discovered lying on a classroom verandah at an Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre in New Lobengula, Bulawayo, on Tuesday afternoon.

The grim discovery was made at around 4:30PM on March 31 by a 52-year-old headmistress from Lobengula West upon arriving for work at the centre.

Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, said the woman found the man lying on his back on the verandah and, upon checking, realised he was not showing any signs of life.

“The deceased is an unknown male adult, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old. He was wearing a brown T-shirt inscribed ‘Veetnix’, white side-pocket shorts, a black belt and was barefoot,” said Inspector Msebele.

A police report was made, and the body was ferried to United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary where it is awaiting a post-mortem.

Police have appealed to members of the public with missing relatives matching the description to contact ZRP Magwegwe or visit the nearest police station or the United Bulawayo Hospitals mortuary for identification.

Investigations into the case are underway.
