PARTS of the decomposing body of a Chitungwiza teacher, who went missing during the second term schools’ holiday, have been found in Gutu.

Stella Mushangidze Chidzenga had been missing since August.

A “Missing Person” flier has been circulating on various WhatsApp groups.

A man, who said he was an uncle of the deceased, broke the news of Chidzenga’s death, which bears the marks of a murder for ritual practices.

Chidzenga was a Grade 2 teacher at Shingayi Government Primary School in St Mary’s, Chitungwiza.

When H-Metro visited the school yesterday afternoon, a sombre atmosphere was engulfing the school, with Chidzenga’s workmates making preparations to visit her home to pay their condolences.

Chidzenga stayed in Ushewokunze with her two children. One is a woman in her early 20s and a boy who is in Grade 6.

There are a number of versions about her disappearance.

One version claims that she left home to seek medical attention in Harare’s CBD.

And, on her way back home, she is said to have called one of her two children and told her to wait for her at the nearest bus stop.

She, however, never made it home.

Her uncle said a young herdboy in Gutu stumbled upon a decomposing human body and he alerted his father.

The father then summoned neighbours and they went to the scene where the body was.

The headman of the area was also notified.

The body was then covered with tree branches while a police report was filed at Gutu.

When the police returned, the uncle claimed they could not find the body where it had been left.

When they resumed the search the following day, the body was seen some metres from the place where it had been seen the previous day.

The police took the body parts to the local mortuary.

Clothing items were also found at the scene.

They included a dress, a pair of slip-ons, a handbag, a wallet and a mobile phone.

On the dialed numbers list was a contact saved as “Daddy” which they called to get in touch with Chidzenga’s father in Bluffhill.

Another family member said they have since returned to Harare to make funeral arrangements.

He said authorities were still to determine where the postmortem will be conducted.

Chidzenga was a graduate of Morgan Zintec College in Harare and, according to messages on her Facebook page, was a devout member of the Anglican Church. – (@H-Metro)
