POLICE are appealing to members of the public to help identify the body of a suspected mentally challenged man who died in Mlibizi, Binga District in January.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Chief Inspector Siphiwe Makonese said the unidentified man whose age was also not ascertained, died of cardiac failure at Mlibizi Resort where he was a beggar at the fishing compound.
The body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals’ mortuary in Bulawayo for a post-mortem where the cause of death was confirmed. The body is still unclaimed from the hospital. Police said the deceased was light in complexion with medium hair and beards on the chin.
He was approximately 1,4 metres tall and according to police, when he died, he was wearing a grey pair of shorts and a Zanu-PF T-shirt.
“We are appealing to anyone who might have information about the deceased or be related or know him based on the given description to contact police in Binga. Chief Insp Makonese said investigations showed that the now deceased arrived in Mlibizi in May 2019 and was roaming around the area until his death. Members of the community told police that the deceased was not from the local area.
