A BOILER-MAKER with Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company and two other accomplices have been arraigned before the courts after they allegedly connived to steal power breakers and an assortment of handy tools from the company.

Mataruse Marambanyika (32) and his accomplices Simbarashe Muzama (27) and Charles Mugomezi (32) were granted $150 bail each when they appeared before Mutare magistrate, Ms Jessy Kufa on theft charges.

They were ordered to report at Marange Police Station once every fortnight on a Friday, not to interfere with State witnesses and continue residing at their given addresses as part of their bail conditions.

The trio was not asked to plead to the two charges of theft and unlawful entry into premises when they appeared in court on Tuesday.

Mr Farai Matinhure of Gonese and Ndlovu Legal Practitioners represented the suspects while public prosecutor, Mr Fletcher Karombe appeared for the State. The matter will go for trial on November 22.

It was the State’s case that Marambanyika who is employed by diamond mine as a boiler maker, stole 21 electrical power breakers, two screw drivers and one small bolt cutter and hid them at a secluded place.

He then communicated with Muzama and Mugomezi to come and collect the stolen goods from a secluded house at mine camp.

However some police officers and mine security guards who were carrying out investigations on a different theft case recovered the 21 electrical power breakers, two screw drivers and one bolt cutter from Muzama’s house.
