ZIMBABWE mixed martial arts fighter, Elvis “Bulawayo Bomber” Moyo, made a sensational return to the hexagon on Thursday night with an impressive victory over Anthony Morel at EFC 122, in Johannesburg.

The 41-year-old captured the heavyweight title in dramatic fashion, completing a fairytale comeback after a seven-year absence from the sport.

The bout ended in the fourth round at the World Sports Betting Arena, when Morel, from Reunion Islands, verbally submitted under Moyo’s relentless pressure.

“It was a special victory. I am delighted to have won this fight and now I am a champion. I have worked hard for this and l am happy to have made this remarkable comeback. It was a difficult fight, his strategy was to get me to the ground, but l counted that well. I have some knocks on my leg, but l am recovering well,” said Moyo.

“This means everything to me. Coming after all the challenges, the missed fights, the time away, it was not easy. But I stayed focused, kept working and believed in myself. Tonight, I showed that I’m still a warrior, and I am proud to bring this title back home to Zimbabwe,” said Moyo.

In other action-packed fights on the EFC 122 card, Faeez “Troublemaker” Jacobs delivered a brutal first-round knock-out against Sibusiso Sovendle, in the co-main event.

“The bantamweight clash was downgraded to a non-title fight after Sovendle failed to make weight.
Siyakudumisa Nomvemve secured a quick tap-out win over Mzwandile Hlongwa in the first round, while Asiashu
