Bomber Moyo, Djikasa set for explosive heavyweight war

THE stage is finally set.
Zimbabwe’s Elvis “The Bomber” Moyo will step into the cage tomorrow to face long time rival Matunga Djikasa in what is being billed as Africa’s biggest heavyweight fight at EFC 127.

The showdown, at the WSB Sporting Arena in Sandton, is no ordinary title bout. This is war.
The two powerhouses came face-to-face for the last time at a fiery press conference, where insults flew and promises of destruction turned the air electric.

Moyo, the reigning EFC Heavyweight Champion, had no time for theatrics.
“I don’t care about what he is going to do. My only goal is to smash him. The rest doesn’t matter to me,” Moyo said. “It will be better for EFC and heavyweights in Africa if we smash each other properly. I have never been knocked out? You are not going to see it, it’s not going to happen. I have never been knocked out. It has never happened.”

The Bomber, once the WBO African Heavyweight Boxing Champion, has spent more than 15 years in combat sports. His career, marked by grit and migration from Zimbabwe to South Africa in search of opportunity, has given him a hardened edge. To him, this fight is about more than defending his crown.

“This fight is more than a title defence. It’s personal and I am fighting to shut him up for good.”
For Djikasa, the fight carries the same personal sting.

“It’s going to be amazing. It will be something people want to see. I’m going to finish him. Two days ago I was dreaming of him and he was begging: ‘Please don’t beat me.’ I want to feel The Bomber.”

The feud goes back to 2022, when Djikasa brutally stopped Moyo’s close friend and training partner, Vandam Mbuyi, in Johannesburg. After the fight, Djikasa stormed across the cage, screamed at Moyo, and punched the cage wall, nearly sparking a riot.

Plans for a bare knuckle fight in 2023 collapsed, but the animosity only deepened. Earlier this year, Djikasa reignited the fire after a comeback win, calling out Moyo in front of the cameras. The MMA world has been waiting since.
Now, with the belt on the line and pride at stake, Moyo and Djikasa will finally settle their score under the lights of EFC 127.
