‘Book of Love’ unveiled

It was a house full of notable names at the Book Café recently when jazz musician Wadzanai Ndudzo aka Wanai launched her debut album “Book of Love”.
A number of artistes including Chirikure Chirikure, Progress Mapfumo, Tendai Manatsa and wife Selmor Mtukudzi, Rute Mbangwa, Tendai Madzviti, Willis Wattaffi among others converged at the Book café to welcome a new colleague.

Music promoter Partson Chimbodza Chipaz also graced the event.

Having been mentored by one of the most talented musicians in the country, Willis Wattafi, Wanai gave a sterling performance which left revellers clamouring for more.

She performed some of the tracks from the album including “Zimbabwean Girl”, a collaboration she did with Wataffi, “Mari”, “SOS”, “Chirere”, the title track. “Ndayarutsa”, a wedding song talks about how grateful parents are when their children get married.

The song proved to be the people’s favourite this was evidenced when patrons joined the 26 year old in singing and dancing. High riding Shinsoman managed to upstage the lady of the day when he went on stage and perfomed his three hits, “Mama Devante”, “Mawayawaya” and “Ndakupenga”.

He left the crowd dazzled with his energetic performance and they begged him for more, a request he could not grant as time was tight.Wanai released her first single “Ndinoda Iwe” in 2008 recorded at Track records, she also did a collaborationwith Shinsoman titled “Mudiwa Ndinokuda” and in 2012, she released another single “Watora Moyo Wangu”.

Wanai said she draws her inspiration from legendary South African  Brenda Fassie and her contemporary compatriot Zahara.

“I am so happy to have launched my debut album and I hope this album will make an impact on people’s lives,” she said.
