Bosso boss reassures coaches

the former Bosso secretary, who assumed the hot seat on Sunday, wanted to dissolve the entire Highlanders technical team. He polled 184 votes against Themba Ndlela’s 143.
Bulawayo businessman Mandla Moyo got only 23 votes.
Soon after the Sunday’s elections, some Highlanders members claimed Dube wanted to reverse the decision to appoint the technical team, which could cost the club, as the appointed members are likely to take legal action in the event of the executive firing them.
Dismissing the rumours as baseless, Dube said they were yet to meet as the new executive to discuss Highlanders’ issues.
“As of Sunday afternoon I became the member of the Highlanders executive committee that decides and implements policies for the club.
“It should be noted that I am not coming to a Highlanders that was formed today but this is a club that has been in existence for many years.
“With regards to the issue of the technical team and other decisions that the previous executive made, I think we should wait until there is a need for a review if any.
” I know there are things that people expect from me as new chairman but why should I change a coach when I haven’t even met with the executive?
“This is why I am saying we will wait until there is a need to review the technical team’s performance,” he said.
Dube said what was important was for all stakeholders to work together for the club’s success.
Zambian Kelvin Kaindu was in December appointed the Highlanders’ head coach with Bekithemba Ndlovu as his assistant.
Tembo Chuma was retained as the goalkeepers’ coach.
The fears that most members were raising was that it would be costly for the club to pay a foreign coach and should the executive decide to withdraw their contracts, Highlanders will have to fork a lot in litigation expenses.
What is, however, in the club’s favour is that the Ndlela-led executive offered the technical team performance based contracts.
The present Highlanders’ executive which has Dube, his deputy Sikhanyiso Moyo, secretary-general Andrew Tapela, Odiel Nkomo, the treasurer, and new committee member Charles ‘Six-One’ Moyo is expected to come up with ways of lifting the debt ridden.
Tapela beat Emmett Ndlovu and Donald Ndebele for another term as the club’s secretary-general with Moyo replacing Wisdom Mabhena.
